Leading The Cavalry and Mountain O' Mounts require you to obtain 50 and 100 mounts, respectively. Collecting 50 mounts isn't too difficult for a character at the level cap, but 100 will certainly take a lot of dedication. Here's a checklist of the mounts you can collect to obtain these two achievements in World of Warcraft. For more expensive mounts, vendor prices (not including reputation discounts and guild perk discounts) are also included. Only alliance faction mounts are included in this guide; the horde factions work similarly.
Looking for a sweet ride? The Mekgineer's Chopper (Alliance) and Mechano-Hog (Horde) bike mounts not only look cool, but they let you carry a passenger, too. While you can't customize the license plate (they all say "PWN"), having a Chopper is definitely a great way to show off your toon. That is partially because of the price you must pay to build one of these fine pieces of craftsmanship!
The Vial of the Sands is a brand new flying mount in Cataclysm that transforms you into a dragon, with the added ability to give someone a ride. Wrath of the Lich King brought us the Mekgineer's Chopper, and with Cataclysm comes the flying version! Being able to show off this amazing mount doesn't come cheap, though. If you've got the gold and time to farm the materials (or more gold to buy some of them) then here's a quick checklist for obtaining a Vial of the Sands mount.
Once your Blood Elf reaches level 20, you can learn the journeyman riding skill and get your Hawkstrider mount right outside of Silvermoon City. After exiting Silvermoon City through the south exit, head east down the road until you see a building on the left side. It will say Thuron's Livery on your map. Inside the building you can learn the riding skill, and the vendor outside the building will sell you a mount. While you can get riding training from any riding trainer, your land mounts can only be purchased from Thuron's Livery until you reach exalted reputation status with another Horde city faction.
Once upon a time, before the Burning Crusade, reaching level 60 meant finally being able to get your hands on the fastest possible mount for the bargain price of 1000 gold (too bad it didn't even fly.) My, how times have changed! For only a fraction of that price, you can now get your very own flying mount with training. Here's how to do it.
The two vendor NPCs that come with the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth are currently bugged. The bug only occurs in a phased area of Cataclysm. The vendors will only appear if you are in the first or last part of the phasing. If you're in the middle of a phased quest line, the vendors will appear to be missing.
The Traveler's Tundra Mammoth is the best ground mount ever invented. It can hold two passengers, and comes with two handy NPCs! One for repairs, reagents, and poisons, and a second for food and drink. The only drawbacks being that it can't be used indoors like a repair bot, and the price tag, of course.
